Getting started
Create your account, add a vehicle, and invite your drivers.
This guide walks a new fleet owner through the first setup steps, from creating an account to getting a driver connected. Most owners finish their first visit before any beacons have arrived in the mail. That's expected: the dashboard keeps track of what's left and lets you pick up where you left off.
Create your account
Go to the sign-up page and enter your email and a password (at least 6 characters). SimpleTelematics sends a confirmation email; open it and click the link to verify your address. Once you're verified you land on the account setup wizard.
Already have an account?
Use the sign-in page instead. If you forgot your password, the sign-in page has a link to reset it.
Set up your company
The wizard is two short steps.
Your name. Enter your first and last name.
Your company. Enter your company name, fleet size, business phone, website, industry, and address. Start typing the address and pick a suggestion to fill in the city, state, and ZIP automatically, or type them in yourself. Also let us know how you heard about SimpleTelematics.
After step two, your account is ready. Select Go to dashboard to continue.
Add your first vehicle
The dashboard sidebar shows a Get started checklist for as long as your fleet has no vehicle reporting a location yet. The first step, Add your vehicles, opens the add-vehicle dialog on the Vehicles page.
Only the vehicle's name is required (for example, "Truck 1"). Year, make, model, plate, VIN, and starting mileage are all optional and can be filled in later from the vehicle's detail page.
Order and connect a beacon
A vehicle needs a beacon assigned to it before SimpleTelematics can record trips. The checklist's remaining steps cover this:
- Order your beacons opens the beacon store and marks the step done once you confirm you've ordered.
- Connect a beacon links to the mobile app download, which you'll also need for drivers.
- Assign beacon to vehicles takes you to the Beacons page, where you match each beacon to a vehicle.
Invite drivers
Every fleet gets a short fleet code (for example AB12), shown in the
dashboard sidebar. Share this code with your drivers so they can connect
their phones to your fleet:
Your driver installs the SimpleTelematics app and taps Enter fleet code.
They type in the fleet code you shared. They don't need to type anything before it, just the code itself.
They enter their name, which is what you'll see on the dashboard next to each trip they drive.
The checklist's First driver connected step checks itself off once a driver finishes this flow, and the Drivers page lists everyone who has joined your fleet.
